Acknowledging the Truth

Acknowledging the Truth

The truth is found in Jesus Christ. The truth is consistent, harmonious. The truth is one truth. It is understood that men do not of themselves have the truth. The truth must be revealed. Creation testifies to a magnificent creator but, He must reveal Himself.

Men first come to an acknownledgement of the truth when they turn from the vain thing and turn to God. That we need to come to God to know the truth means that before we were in error.
The scriptures speak of those ever learning and never quite able to come to the knowledge of the truth. They are ever learning from a religion that appears to be godly but, has no power to change thus they are easy prey to every religious charlatan.
Paul tells us that God would have all men to be saved and then to come into a full knowledge of the truth, "Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth" 1Ti 2:4
There is a word that is preached that comes from God it is a word of truth. The gospel is that message of truth that if a man believes it he can come into knowledge of the truth, Col 1:5. It was Paul's desire that men advance and grow in the knowledgement of the truth. Paul's service to the body of Christ is to culture this desire and encourage movement into a full knowledge of God. There is a truth of the gospel and we are to walk accordingly and to continue in it.
The truth of God does not lead into questions and doubtings over what God is doing. On the contrary it is the nature of truth to settle, anchor and secure us. So that we be not wavering and unsettled and soon shaken in mind not carried about with divers and strange doctrines.
Actually, it is the truth that will quard us in these perilous times as men began to fall for lack of it. Paul speaks to the Thessalonians concerning those who recieve not the love of the truth in 2th 2:10 "and with all deceivableness and unrighteousness in them that perish, because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
This is a love of the truth that men receive it is not developed, it is not learned, there are no how-to books, no seminars or disciplines that will give this love for the truth. It is given by God it is received by men therefore, it can not be exploited.
It is only those who do not have this love for the truth that can be exploited.
It will be a love for the truth as it is found in the gospel of Jesus Christ which will prevent the saints from being led astray by strong delusion sent by God. "And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 2th 2:11
For this same reason, the Apostle Peter wanted the saints to make their own calling and election sure he does not apologize for bringing into remembrance of the truth alto' they knew it and were established in it.
Acknowledging the truth has the idea of recognizing the truth as being geninue and valid. Quite simply there are some things that are being promoted in the name of Jesus that those who are acquainted with the manner of the Lord and His kingdom know it is not true. There are doctrines being preached that are clearly out of sync with the manner of Christ and those who are growing in the acknowledging of the truth are able to distinquish between what is truth and error. And make no mistake about it there is a spirit of error and it is eager to blind the minds of men to truth.
Acknowledging the truth has it practical application when one is able to rightly divide the word of God. It is when one begins to percieve the nature and the direction of truth when the sense of truth become useful giving us spiritual understanding.
Acknowledging the truth brings us in harmony with the eternal purpose of God. Allows us to see that what God is doing is bigger than men and it is not all about them. Acknowledging the truth lifts us up out and away from the petty trifliing about which men haggle. Acknowledging the truth brings one into fellowship with the Father and the Son, walking by faith in the light, growing up into all things in Christ, being changed from glory to glory....Paul refers to this as the ministry of reconciliatioin of which we are parteners.
"And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him."
1John 3:19

  1. It is a blessed provision that God in Christ has made in that our new man is created in righteousness and true holiness, and is therefore readily acclimated and inclined to acknowledging the truth. It is only outside of Zion, the city of the living God where truth is fallen in the street, and where men make themselves a prey for speaking a word that is in accordance with the truth.
